Let's start with our Omicron variant update.

The first case has shown up in North America with a case detected in Canada on Sunday evening.

The World Health Organization also announced its risk assessment yesterday, saying that

the variant poses a very high risk to the globe because it may be more transmissable than

other strains of the virus.

However, this is still being studied in the context of vaccines, so we don't have any definitive

answers yet, and we don't expect to for about another two weeks.

In an effort to reduce the general panic over the variant, President Biden addressed

the nation yesterday, saying that it is a cause for concern, not a cause for panic.

Funny how that's exactly what I tell my landlord when he asks why my fire alarm goes off

every time I cook a meal.

Biden added that they don't intend to fight the variant with shutdowns or lockdowns, but

with vaccines, boosters, testing, and masking.

Meanwhile, in New York City, officials issued an advisory yesterday recommending all residents

wear masks in indoor public settings.

Yesterday, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey stepped down, citing an email to Twitter employees that

he wanted Twitter to stop being a founder-led company, adding that there aren't many
