The four headlines you need to know.

President Biden has asked Congress to intervene and block a railroad strike before the December 9th negotiation deadline.

He's asking for them to enact the tentative agreement they reached back in September.

In a statement, the president said, quote, as a proud pro-labor president, I'm reluctant to override

the ratification procedures and the views of those who voted against this agreement.

But in this case, where the economic impact of a shutdown would hurt millions of other working people and families,

I believe Congress must use its powers to adopt this deal.

End quote.

The agreement he's speaking of was approved by eight of the 12 unions.

While rail companies and workers have come to an agreement on pay,

rail workers still want less demanding schedules

and the ability to take a day off when needed. If rail workers strike, we could see shutdowns

of entire industries and our economy will take a very bad hit. Gas prices are falling and

they may continue to fall. For the first time, since the Russian invasion

of Ukraine, the most common gas price, according to GasBuddy, is $2.99 a gallon. Now, the most

common gas price is different than the average cost of gas in America, which is $3.51 per gallon.

But either way you slice it, gas prices are the lowest they've been in almost a year,

which is obviously a very big deal as we enter the holidays and spend more money on gifts and travel.

And by Christmas, the national average could dip below $3 a gallon.
