I'm Albert Moller and this is the briefing, a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview. Let this data point sink in with you.

0:16.7

It comes down to this. The more wealthy a man is, the more likely he is to be married. The more wealthy a woman is, the less likely

0:26.3

she is to be married. Accordingly, the more wealthy a man is, the more likely

0:31.8

he is to be a father. The more wealthy a woman is, the less likely

0:36.6

she is to be a mother.

0:38.6

Now for Christians, there could hardly be a more significant set of statistics than these because we understand that the family is

0:45.9

the center of human civilization, marriage and the family are the foundations of the entire

0:50.6

culture and what we are looking at here is a development that is entirely new in human history.

0:56.6

1:04.4

Now on the one hand you see the great divide in our country made very clear by how this data is interpreted. People

1:25.2

mothers, they are now liberated.

1:27.7

But Christians have to look at this and say, well, but this could well doom human civilization itself.

1:33.0

This is a very alarming pattern.

1:35.3

The more wealthy a man is, the more likely he is to be a father,

1:38.8

the more wealthy a woman is, the less likely she is to be a mother. Now how has this come about and why are we

1:44.8

talking about it? Well we're talking about it because for Christians this has to be a

1:48.3

matter of tremendous nearly incalculable importance. We're talking about something as basic as marriage, as basic as the family, as basic has the picture of human life.

1:59.0

But we also are talking about it because the data is now coming in and it is pretty overwhelming.

2:05.1

You look at it and the numbers tell us that we have a fall-off in marriage and a fall-off in the

2:10.9

birth rate in this country, both of which are very significant.
