Quick programming note before we get started. I'm not going to be here for a week.

Today is my last show until next Tuesday. My brother-in-law is getting married so we're

off to Massachusetts. It's going to be great. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait,

but sadly no shows for a week.

But this one starts right now.

And it always starts with the top story.

I mentioned this yesterday, but the extreme heat continues to dominate headlines.

A large portion of the country will be affected this week.

82% of the country, roughly 265 million Americans, could experience temps over 90 this week.

That's a lot.

Phoenix hit 112 over the weekend, they're expected to hit 115 later this week.

I mean, that's dangerous.

Last year in Phoenix, 645 people lost their lives from heat-related causes.

That was a record.

Those temps have been moving east to the Plains and Great Lakes areas and will hit the

northeast at some point today.

DC and New England will be in the mid to upper 90s.

Just rough out there. Do your best to stay cool, stay hydrated,

be mindful of your pets and anyone in your life that could maybe use some assistance.
