0:21.0	It has, quote, officially declared a state of emergency for LGBTQ plus Americans.
0:25.4	Well, it just so happens it came out in Pride Month.
0:28.6	Again, I'm sure that's just a coincidence.
0:31.4	What we need to look at here is not just the press release and the news coverage on this

0:35.4	We need to understand how this gives us indications of the way that culture works, the way
0:39.8	that morality is transformed in a culture.
0:43.8	And in this case, it's by a press release declaring a state of emergency.
0:46.7	The first thing we need to recognize is that those words are loaded.
0:50.2	Those words are loaded because, after all, we're supposed to pay close attention.
0:54.7	We're supposed to be very concerned.
0:55.9	We're supposed to be moved to action.
0:57.7	If indeed, there's the declaration of an emergency.
1:00.9	What's the historical background to that?
1:02.8	Well, historical background is both military and it is meteorological.
1:07.7	You have a military state of emergency in which it is declared where an urgent situation
