It's a little bit of a lapse in Abraham's stellar faith.

We've learned that Abraham has traveled Abram from Err of the Caldez through Haryan,

now to the promised land.

He's made his way south.

He's gone through places like Shechem and Bethel.

And now he encounters an issue in this land to which God had called him.

And it says in verse number nine that Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south,

and there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there,

for the famine was grievous in the land. So, I mean, it's easy to kind of judge these Bible

characters through our Western eyes
