The Core 4. The four headlines you need to know. A McDonald's franchisee has agreed to pay

$4.4 million after its manager sexually assaulted a teen worker. Pittsburgh area restaurant

manager Walter A. Garner was a registered sex offender who served prison time and was listed on the Megan's Law website

for previously sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl. At McDonald's, he managed a 14-year-old

girl who he sexually assaulted in the restaurant bathroom. He pleaded guilty in 2021 and is currently serving a state prison sentence.

One illegal immigrant, that's too many. Five thousand? Absolutely not. That is a tweet that was posted

by Senator Jim Rich, a Republican from Idaho. And it's about the immigration reform bill that was just released by

three Senate negotiators. Now, what the senator from Idaho is mad about is a part of this new

immigration bill that allegedly says the border can be shut down to everyone, including asylum

seekers, once 5,000 migrants cross the southern border into the United States

in one day. It's something that Republicans are using as an excuse to kill this border bill,

but you have to ask yourself two questions. One, after yelling about how dangerous our southern

border has been, why would Republicans not support a bill that gives the government the ability

to shut down the border completely?

And the other question you would ask is, why would the government allow 5,000 people to cross that border illegally each day?

So let's answer both of those questions.
