You may have heard by now about the coup in Myanmar. I know another week another

coup right? Here's what's going down. Prior to early Monday morning, Myanmar was

technically a democracy led by the popular civilian leader on San Suu Kyi.

Suu Kyi has been a leader in Myanmar since the country became a partial democracy about a decade ago.

She's the leader of the National League for Democracy and a Nobel Peace Prize winner. So you know Trump's jealous.

However, yesterday, the military arrested Suu Kyi instituted a nationwide communications blackout and announced on its military It's

then they'll hold elections after that. The reason that the military,

also known as the Tat Madoth, made this move

is because they feared that their authority would be permanently curtailed

if Myanmar continued to become more democratic. They were probably unsettled to see

that in last November's election, the National League for Democracy

won 83% of the vote, which is why the military claim they needed to seize control

due to election fraud.

Suu Kyi called for civilians to resist the military coup even as over 24 ministers were replaced by the military.
