Another guy who is no longer with us that was born on this day, Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter.

Crikey. He would have been 60 today. His face should be on a mountain too.

Drew Barrymore, Rachel Dratch, Tom Higginson of the Plain White Teas, Pro Basketball Player,

Rajan Rondo, and this guy, James Blunt, our all-year-older today as well. Happy birthday.

Okay, we start with the top stories. I've been given updates every day on this one.

Hoping war could be avoided, and it looks like it's inevitable.

Vladimir Putin has ordered troops into Eastern Ukraine.

He's calling it a peacekeeping mission, but nobody believes that.

US officials now say that the hopes of avoiding invasion appear very dim,

and they're expecting an all-out war by as early as this weekend.

And again, at the center of all of this, Putin wants to keep Ukraine from joining the UN.

From what I understand, he thinks the UN's very existence makes Russia weaker,

and he doesn't want a neighbor country involved.

And not only that, he kind of thinks Ukraine belongs to Russia, and one day they will return home to him.

So now we all wait and see his next move.
