of a shorter show today, so hope you can enjoy a bit of the sunny 9 p.m. sunset tonight. I'm your host, Paige Browning,

with today's top stories. It's Tuesday, June 2nd. KUOW has learned that the Trump administration

has removed an array of ocean observation stations from the waters off the Washington coast.

Not plans to remove, has already

removed. The removal is part of a national dismantling of a network of data buoys in the Pacific and

Atlantic oceans. The National Science Foundation just announced the cuts last month. Jan Newton is an

oceanographer at the University of Washington reacting to this blow-to-ocean science.

The information from the ocean is used in so many ways, and it's so few and far between,

that it's really just so sad to lose these treasures.

The floating stations off Grace Harbor had been monitoring ocean conditions, including storms, temperatures, and oxygen levels.

They were pulled in September.

Three high-tech observation stations off of Newport, Oregon are slated to be pulled out of the water by the end of this month.

Dungeon as crab fishermen told researchers that not having weather reports from buoys off Grace Harbor this winter made their work at sea more dangerous.

Seattle residents will show whether they're willing to pay more taxes to make buses better this coming fall.
