We're in the book of Luke, and we're in chapter one, and we're doing a series of Bible studies just for the next couple weeks called Advent.

The word Advent means coming, and we're talking about the first coming of the Lord.

And John the Baptist has just been

born and that's so important because John the Baptist as you know is the forerunner of the

Lord Jesus Christ as promised in the Old Testament there would come a messenger that would

precede the messenger of the covenant and the messenger

little m John the Baptist in the spirit and power of Elijah would prepare the way

of the Lord make ready of people to hear to to make the path ready for people to

hear the Lord so the announcement and the birth of the forerunner

is in essence a harbinger of the coming, the quick coming of the actual Messiah himself.

We know how Zecharias had received that announcement from Gabriel. We know how he had doubted.

But now on the eighth day of young John's life,

Zecharias says, his name is John.

He wrote it down.

And that simple act of faith God honored.
