Today's headlines are unique to say the least.

Our first story today is that the United States announced that it will stage a diplomatic

boycott at the Beijing Olympics next year, in response to a variety of China's human rights

abuses.

For example, Uyghur concentration camps, its military actions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and

the South China Sea, and potentially circumstances surrounding the treatment of Chinese tennis player

Peng Shui.

American athletes will still be competing in the Olympics, but the boycott means that

no American officials will attend an diplomatic capacity.

China responded by denouncing the boycott's interference in their eternal affairs, and

slapped visa bans on American politicians that they consider to be anti-China.

But all in all, this just feels like a real lesson in how diplomacy works.

They censor and kill people, and we skip their big party.

Totally equal.

Before we get into some of the more clownish stories of the week, first I have to report

that the Justice Department has once again sued the state of Texas over its redistricted

voter maps, alleging that Republican state lawmakers discriminated against Latinos and

other minorities in their creation.

Yeah, you think.

The lawsuit asks the court to bar Texas from holding elections under these redrawn districts,
