The Core 4. The four headlines you need to know. With only a few days before the next school

year is scheduled to start, teachers in Ohio's largest school district voted to go on strike

for better learning and teaching conditions.

The strike of 4,000 teachers is the first for the Columbus Education Association Union since 1975.

The school board proposed their last and best final offer, and 94% of the union voted to reject that offer.

The union cites class sizes and functional heating and air conditioning in classrooms as their points of disagreement with the board. The school year is still

scheduled to begin tomorrow with classes online and led by either substitutes or administrators.

Philadelphia is also dealing with a similar situation where

2,000 teachers are striking six days before the new school year is supposed to start. Both strikes are happening while districts all over the country face teacher shortages. Dr. Anthony Fauci is stepping down as the nation's top infectious disease expert after holding

the federal government position since the mid-80s.

Just over a month ago, we reported that Fauci had alluded in an interview that his time

working with the federal government was nearing an end and would not go past President Biden's

current term.

Yesterday, the 81-year-old announced his time in the government would come to an end this December,

but was quick to note that this wasn't a full retirement.
