On Tuesday, congressional Democrats and Republicans pledged to pass legislation to avoid a nationwide

rail strike at the behest of President Biden.

A strike would disrupt shipping and would likely lead to delays in Christmas gift delivery.

How Speaker Nancy Pelosi vowed to move quickly, saying, quote,

tomorrow morning, we will have a bill on the floor.

President Biden met with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi minority leader Kevin McCarthy,

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday

at the White House to discuss his plans for the remainder of the year, as well as to go over

upcoming government funding legislation. Here's McCarthy explaining what was discussed.

What I explained to all of them is that I can work with anyone who's willing to work to get

our spending on a control, to work to make America energy independent, to secure our borders,

but if they don't want to work with us, we can get this work done in January.

The state of Georgia broke another voting record on Monday, as more than 239,000 early voters

came out to the polls in a single day to cast their ballots in the 2022 Senate runoff election

between incumbent Senator Rafael Warnock and GOP challenger Herschel Walker.

The previous early voting record was just over 233,000 votes set in 2018.
