| 0:00.0 | Hey, everybody Rob Maower here and of course today we're going to talk a little bit about the US election, primarily Tesla's reaction to it. I'm sure at this point people are a little bit about the US election. Primarily Tesla's reaction to it, I'm sure at this point people are a little bit |
| 0:15.1 | tired of hearing about everything going on. Of course the race is still ongoing. Votes are still being counted. |
| 0:20.8 | The next 24 hours should provide a lot of clarity, but regardless it does look like we may be in for a wait of days or even weeks before the election is finalized. |
| 0:30.3 | A quick example of that, especially for our international listeners. |
| 0:33.4 | For example, my state of Wisconsin, Joe Biden is ahead by about 20,000 votes. |
| 0:37.6 | The Associated Press has declared Biden the winner of the state, |
| 0:40.3 | but the margin of victory is less than 1%, and that will allow President Trump to demand a |
| 0:45.3 | recount. And those recounts in Wisconsin can take up to 13 days. We're going to see probably |
| 0:49.9 | similar actions taken in other states, maybe North Carolina, Michigan, Nevada. |
| 0:54.4 | You've still got Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, all sort of unclear at this point in time. |
| 0:59.2 | And depending on how things go, one of those states could make a difference. |
| 1:02.3 | And many of them, if not all of them could fall |
| 1:04.3 | within a margin that would allow for a recount which just adds a lot of time. |
| 1:08.0 | For example in Michigan that can take up to 39 days. |
| 1:11.2 | For a little bit more context on Wisconsin as an example, we did have a |
| 1:14.6 | recount for the 2016 general election and that changed the result by only 131 |
| 1:19.2 | votes. Of course this election is sort of a different beast with all of the absentee voting. |
| 1:23.6 | So a long way of saying it might be a while before everything is fully done. |
| 1:26.8 | But as of market close today, |
| 1:29.2 | the election betting odds put Joe Biden |
| 1:31.6 | as an 82% favorite to win the presidency and that's |
| 1:35.6 | probably our best clue for how the markets are reacting to what is unfolded |
