0:00.0 | Hey everybody, Rob, now we're here. Welcome back to Tesla Daily. We've got a whole |
0:11.0 | lot to cover today. Tesla's stock has of course been rising over the last few days, and |
0:14.8 | we have quite a few announcements from Elon Musk on Twitter. We've now got an official |
0:18.2 | date for Tesla's AI Day, FSD Beta 9.1, dropped over the weekend. We got a price cut in |
0:22.6 | China, and a few other stories as well. We'll start off here quickly catching up on the |
0:26.8 | stock, so Tesla today finishing up 3.3% to $709.67. It did drop off a little bit to end |
0:33.4 | the day, but so did the broader markets as well. The NASDAQ finished up less than a tenth |
0:37.1 | of a percent, and the S&P in Dow slipped into the red. Tesla also now crossed into the |
0:41.8 | positive year to date for the first time since April. So today was a continuation of |
0:47.0 | the trading that we saw at the tail end of last week, so of course Thursday and Friday, |
0:50.5 | as I was traveling. The share price movement happened finally following earnings. Seems |
0:54.5 | like it took a few days for Wall Street to kind of digest the financials, getting an understanding |
0:57.9 | of how strong a quarter Tesla had in Q2. Of course there's been other news as well, but I do |
1:02.2 | think this is a delayed reaction to the earnings report primarily, and then probably coupling |
1:06.7 | that with the date that we now have for AI Day. Volume is definitely ticked up as well. The last |
1:11.4 | three days have been the highest volume days, excluding the day after earnings in the last |
1:15.4 | month or so, and even today surpassed earnings day volume. So over the last three days, the average |
1:19.8 | volume has been about 31 million shares or so, versus the July average at about 20 million, |
1:24.8 | basically Tesla seeing about 50% more volume during this little run over the last few days. |
1:29.1 | Anyway, it'll be kind of interesting to see if that volume does stick around throughout |
1:32.2 | the rest of this week. We'll talk a little bit more about stock related things towards the end |
1:36.1 | of the episode, but let's get into that big announcement that we had at the end of last week, |
... |
