I'm your host, Annie F. Downs. I'm really happy to be here with you today. Y'all know I love seasons.

I love the Christian calendar. I love Advent to catch you up if Advent is a bit of a new idea or a practice for you traditionally.

Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas and marks the time that the church slows down to intentionally look forward to the coming of Jesus.

To celebrating when he came to earth on that first Christmas and also looking forward to his promised return.

And as we wait, there are gifts for us to discover. And during Advent, we're spending time on the podcast each weekday,

focusing on the gifts of hope, peace, love, and joy each represented by an Advent candle that we light as we celebrate together.
