All right, we are diving into Romans chapter 15 today, and we're going to look at a section

between verses 8 and 13 where the Apostle Paul is quoting a lot of Old Testament passages

and he's doing them to illustrate the point that he's making.

Now he starts in verse 8 by saying, for I tell you that Christ became a servant to the

circumcised, that's the Jewish people, to show God's truthfulness in order to confirm

the promises given to the patriarchs, and in order that the Gentiles, that's anyone

who's not a Jew, might glorify God for his mercy.

So you see Paul's point is Jesus became a servant to all people, the Jewish nation who

previously God had called his people and to whom he had revealed the word of God through

the Old Testament.

He became a servant to them.

He also became a servant to the Gentiles so that those who were not Jews and didn't know

about God previously can glorify God for his mercy in including them as part of his people.

And then at the end of verse number nine, he says, as it is written in any time you see
