What I got through last time we were together was about eight pressures that are on us as Christians not to be truth-driven people,

not to really care about whether we live by the truth and commend the truth,

shape churches by the truth, and families by the truth, and businesses by the truth.

There are reasons for why we're not that way today by and large, and if you try to be that way, you will be so against the grain that many negative effects will befall you.

So how can the church remain committed to truth while resisting cultural pressures that demand conformity.

In this episode of Light and Truth, John Piper urges believers to confront societal forces

that erode truth within the church.

This seminar was originally delivered at Bethlehem Baptist Church on March 23rd, 1994.

Let me read you a passage of Scripture from this morning's devotions.

At that time, Jesus declared,

I thank the Father, Lord of heaven and earth,

that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed

them to babes.

Yea, Father, for such was thy good pleasure.

All things have been delivered to me by my father, and no one knows the son except the father and no one knows the

father except the son and anyone to whom the son chooses to reveal him that's an awesome statement. Nobody knows God except Jesus.

And anybody that Jesus chooses to take into that knowledge and share it with them.

This is an awesome statement. Father, I pray that you would commission your son now tonight in this room

to share with us his truth. He is the truth. And he has told us here very plainly that nobody knows you but him and

anyone to whom he chooses to make you known and old Father I pray that Jesus

would be released, commissioned, sent by His Spirit here to make you known.

To make the importance of the truth known here in our time together.
