Welcome again, I'm Sam Eifling. This is the fourth and final planned episode of Trust Us.

We've been exploring the Jersey offshore leak, 350,000 documents from an offshore trust company called LaHugh.

The league spurred reporters to investigate a firm that long operated in the shadows, and it pointed

reporters to LaHouk's clients.

One of the media partners in the investigative collaboration was the Toronto Star.

Its reporters focused on a couple of Canadian companies that left some dodgy paper trails in the leaked documents.

Those front-page stories landed like sledgehammers when the star dropped them on doorsteps around the six.

My co-producer on the series, Kalyn Shaw, shared a byline with star reporters on both stories.

Given the impact of the coverage, we were not totally shocked at what happened next.

You sent me from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice that says a gentleman who is the subject of one of the stories that we're about to get to in this episode

is suing you and the Toronto Star for $4 million saying that the story was wrong

and it was malicious and it was meant to harm him.
