Good evening from Chicago, Illinois. I'm Chris Hayes. Thank you for joining us tonight for a very special two-hour edition of all in. Happy 4th of July. I hope you had a good one the Friday after our nation's

birthday not usually known as an enormous news day but we are not in usual times

today you may have seen president Joe Biden is in the crucial swing state of Wisconsin for what

may very well be the highest stakes day of his re-election campaign so far. He just

sat for an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, portions of which we will air, will air in just a few minutes. So stand by for that.

Now this, of course, the first major interview from the President since his debate performance in Atlanta eight days ago, a performance which has

precipitated a cascade of negative polling, outright panic among a whole host of folks in the Democratic

Party, voters, elected officials, top Democratic donors,

both anonymously and on the record.

So far, the president has not been able to do much to calm those concerns.

In so far as, he has not done any major interviews or press conferences or town halls

though he has had a series of largely scripted public events. He did deliver brief

July 4th remarks to military families from the White House yesterday. Today the president

returned to the campaign trail proper speaking to voters in Madison

Wisconsin at a rowdy rally he insisted despite all the speculation and

concern that he is not going anywhere.

I have probably heard you had a little debate last week.

Can't say it's my best performance. But ever since then there's been a lot of speculation.

What's Joe going to do? Is he going to stay in the race?

Is he going to drop out? What's you going to do?

Well here's my answer.

I am running and going to win again.
