Hey, good morning. It's Patricia Murphy. It's Wednesday. This is Seattle now. Decades old protections

for Washington's national forests could be loosened to increase logging in our state due to new orders from the federal government.

In a minute, Seattle Times Environment reporter Linda Mapes will tell us how things could change.

But first, let's get you caught up.

Both of Washington's U.S. senators are in town today talking about the effects of new tariffs.

First at 11 this morning, Democrat Maria Cantwell will join local business owners at the Port of Seattle

to talk about how tariffs are already having an impact here. They'll include the CEO of Tutabella

and the deputy director of the Washington Wine Commission.

Cantwell has introduced a bipartisan bill to rein in presidential power over tariff policy.

Then at 1.30, Democrat Patty Murray is holding a tariff roundtable in Tacoma with business leaders and

port commissioners. Afterwards, she'll meet with students and faculty

at Clover Park Technical College to talk about the impact of federal funding cuts on higher

education. And this evening, leave room for Washington Attorney General Nick Brown will join a

town hall with other state Democratic AGs to talk about the impact of Trump administration policies. The event will focus on the

ongoing lawsuits that Brown and others have filed against the Trump administration and their potential
