President Donald Trump says it's, quote, highly unlikely he would fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome

Powell. As a source said he suggested to lawmakers on Tuesday that he would. But Trump offered an

important caveat, quote, unless he has to leave for fraud. Trump has repeatedly railed against

the Fed chair for not lowering interest rates. The president addressed the matter from the Oval

Office today. He's doing a lousy job, but no, I'm not talking about that. We get, fortunately,

we get to make a change in the next, what, eight months or so. And we'll pick somebody that's good.

Some have warned that markets could freak out if Trump tries to fire Powell

and could include a possible collapse in the dollar and U.S. bonds.

That's President Trump signing the new Haltz Fentanyl bill aimed at cracking down on illegal

fentanyl. The opioid is a key issue for Trump, who has claimed the illicit flow of fentanyl is one of the underlying reasons for his tariff threats against Canada, Mexico, and China.

The bill which was passed with bipartisan support will classify any fentanyl-related substances as Schedule 1 under the Controlled Substances Act, which specifies harsh penalties for convicted traffickers.
