He is the Chief Television Critic for The New York Times, and he has a new book, his first book.

It's called Audience of One, Donald Trump, Television and the Fracturing of America.

I thanks a lot for inviting me in.

Well, let's start with your day job because a lot of people probably wonder,

what is it that a chief television critic for The New York Times does?

A chief television critic watches a lot of television increasingly because there is so much television.

A chief television critic has to do a lot of triage and decide what not to watch

and what sort of merits attention relevant to your interests.

The way I describe this to people nowadays is that when I started out back in the ancient days

as a TV critic, it was more like being a movie critic, where you could reasonably see every major release

and see everything that was out there.
