Good morning and welcome to way too early, the show that's admiring these live pictures of the Great Wall in China.

I'm Allie Vitale on this Wednesday, May 13th.

We are going to start with the news overseas because in just hours, President Trump is set to touch down in Beijing for his first trip to China in nearly a decade.

The president left from Joint Base Andrews yesterday with a gaggle of

aides, reporters, and businessmen in tow. Trump says the summit will focus on trade more than

anything else, but issues surrounding the war in Iran and the White House's stance on Taiwan will

also weigh heavily in these discussions. The administration approved an $11 billion weapons package for Taiwan last year,

and even amid the ongoing war, China continues to be one of the biggest purchasers of Iranian oil.

Despite that, President Trump told reporters yesterday he sees the Chinese leader Xi Jinping as a friend.

What is your message to President Xi as it relates to the Iran war?

Well, I think number one, we're going to have a long talk about it.

I think he's been relatively good, to be honest with you.

You look at the blockade, no problem.

They get a lot of their oil from that area.

going to happen. The president also invited a number of top American business leaders to accompany him

on this trip to Beijing, including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. CNBC reported yesterday, Huang would not be attending the summit,

but then after media coverage of his notable absence, White House reached out to the tech

giant to include him. Huang reportedly had to fly to Alaska to board Air Force One.

President Trump confirmed his attendance in a post on social media, writing in part, quote,

In actuality, Jensen is currently on Air Force One.
