Demonstrations are underway in Los Angeles for the fourth day running

as we're getting reports that the Pentagon is deploying hundreds of Marines to the city

where people have been protesting against President Donald Trump's immigration and deportation policies.

The latest move follows Mr Trump's controversial decision to send the National Guard

to defend federal buildings in the city.

The president is now being sued for sending in the military without the permission of the state's Democratic governor.

Here's California's attorney, General Rob Bonta.

I, in partnership with Governor Gavin Newsom, are suing President Trump

and asking the court to set aside

the president's unlawful action

federalizing the California National Guard.

With this order, Trump and Hegeseth

ignored law enforcement's expertise and guidance

and trampled over our states, California's sovereignty.
