Following fevered speculation that Donald Trump was about to order a strike on Iran very soon,

he appears to have pulled back from the brink, for now at least.

In a news conference on Thursday, the White House press secretary, Caroline

Levitt, made this announcement. I have a message directly from the president, and I quote,

based on the fact that there's a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take

place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go

within the next two weeks. This comes as Iran has issued defiant warnings saying that Mr.

Trump risked to becoming embroiled in a quagmire if he joined Israel in attacking Iran.

And as divisions have been exposed among the president's supporters over the

possibility that he might draw the US into another foreign entanglement, including in this

furious debate between former Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson and Senator Ted Cruz.

I don't know why you'd be embarrassed of it. You've said that you are sincerely for Israel.
