The morning. It is Sunday, September the 14th. I'm Ali Velshi. We begin this morning with the promise, the threat of a fresh escalation in Donald Trump's campaign to take over the streets of American cities with unwanted, unwelcome deployments of federalized National Guard troops.

In a new post this weekend on a social media site, the president wrote, quote,

The real work by us has barely begun.

That happens after we make the official announcement that we're coming.

And when we do that, as we did in now very safe, Washington, D.C., the no-crime miracle begins.

Only I can save them.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, President D.J.T.

That was posted just over 24 hours after he appeared on cable news to make what he calls

an official announcement that we're coming, this time to Memphis.

I'll be the first to say it right now again. We're going to Memphis. Memphis is

that's the next city. Deeply troubled. We're going to fix that just like we did Washington.

I would have preferred going to Chicago. We're going to Memphis. I'm just announcing that now, and we'll straighten that out.

National Guard and anybody else we need.

And by the way, we'll bring in the military, too, if we need it.

Less than a week after he made this social media post

threatening Chicago, America's third most populous city, with war. It's unclear why the president

turned his attention away from Chicago, but if you're wondering why Memphis in particular

caught his attention, it's apparently because when considering which city to take over next,
