Today we reach deadline day for new tariffs.

What's how rural organizers say recent Republican-led cuts could help Democrats win votes,

President Donald Trump signed an executive order yesterday imposing sweeping new tariffs

on imports from trading partners around the world, escalating an aggressive trade policy

aimed at spurring domestic manufacturing in the U.S.

The new reciprocal tariff rates, which will go into effect in a week, came before today's

deadline Trump gave about 180 countries to either reach trade deals with his administration

or face higher reciprocal tariffs assigned by the U.S. Trump also took separate action to raise

tariffs on goods from Canada from 25 to 35%. That new tariff

rate will go into effect today. The order listed higher import duty rates of 10 to 41% starting in a

week for dozens of trading partners. Goods from all other countries not listed would be subject to a 10%

U.S. import tax. Trump earlier in the week made good on a threat to hike tariffs on imports from Brazil to a whopping 50%

while also moving forward with a 50% tariff on copper products.

Gaza medical officials said at least 23 people were reported killed by recent Israeli fire across the enclave, including 12 people among crowds who had gathered to receive aid.

The Israeli military said its troops had fired warning shots to disperse crowds.

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday in a bid to salvage Gaza truce talks and address the humanitarian crisis there, including severe hunger concerns.

Shortly after Whitkoff's arrival, President Trump posted on his truth social network, writing that the fastest way to end the humanitarian crises in Gaza is for Hamas to surrender and release the hostages.
