0:47.4	His attorneys are asking the judge for a lengthy delay of his trial.
0:51.7	Judge Aileen Cannon, who will oversee the case from federal court in Fort Pierce, Florida,
0:56.4	had originally said in August trial date.
0:58.8	And special counsel Jack Smith asked for December.
1:01.8	Then late last night, Trump's lawyers submitted a 12-page filing requesting that the trial
1:07.6	be delayed until after the presidential election.
1:10.7	The filing says that Trump is, quote, currently the likely Republican Party nominee.
1:15.8	This undertaking requires a tremendous amount of time and energy, and that effort will
1:21.0	continue until the election on November 5, 2024.
