Ladies and gentlemen, the government of the United States of America has shut down.

Now, of course, it's a little more complicated than that,

in that lots of essential services will remain open,

otherwise planes wouldn't be able to take off.

It would affect police, fire, and just about everything else you could think of. But I think the Democrats

had a real disadvantage here because Trump has the megaphone. And Chuck Schumer, who was on

MSNBC this morning, has to make a more complicated

argument about health care, which Dems are trying to protect. Look, I have to conclude that both

sides wanted this, but Hakeem and Chuck going up against

Donald Trump seems to me not to be a particularly fair fight. And by the way, there is one

Republican talking point that's just complete BS, and that is Democrats want to save health care for illegal

immigrants there is a law against that so that can be thrown out as just a falsehood but as we'll see

in a moment a lot of people are going to be thrown out of work.

And it ends up, you know, let's say it goes on for a week.

Let's say it goes on for two weeks.

It ends up costing the government a hell of a lot of money.
