At least 12 are dead from Hurricane Melton, which

smashed into Florida late Wednesday as a category three storm. President Biden said we know from

previous storms the number of casualties will increase. Three million Floridians are still without power.

We are told the storm could have been a lot worse, having failed to strike more densely populated areas.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the storm was lethal, but not nearly as powerful as he had feared.

FEMA provided 80,000 Floridians with shelter after they were ordered to evacuate.

1,000 search and rescue personnel have been dispatched to Florida.

20 million meals and 40 million liters of water have also been delivered.

President Biden is asking Congress to come back to Washington to pass an emergency

supplemental for FEMA, as well as a supplemental for the

Small Business Administration so new disaster loans could be made to small businesses and homeowners.
