It is Saturday, May 30th. I'm Ali Valshi. We begin this hour with a burst of setbacks for Donald Trump that could signal the start of a season of blowback, an election season, no less. First, the president's brazenly corrupt slush fund to pay off the insurrectionists who stormed

the capital in his name is on ice. A federal judge blocked the fund while a lawsuit brought by a

fired January 6th prosecutor, among others, goes forward. And then another federal judge ordered the

Trump administration to answer allegations made by dozens of yet more former federal judges that the

entire deal in which Trump withdrew his $10 billion lawsuit against a government he controls

was premised on deception. We're going to talk about both of these rulings later in the hour,

but you don't have to be a lawyer to understand that there's something wrong with Donald Trump

the citizen suing a government run by Donald Trump the president, and then the two Donald

Trump parties negotiating a big payout in favor of the people who tried to violently overthrow

the government on his behalf after he lost an election that he continues to deny losing.

A recent poll by the economist in UGov released on Wednesday found that 52% of

Republicans and even 45% of MAGA supporters opposed the slush fund. To add insult to injury,

yet another federal judge says Trump has to take his name off the Kennedy Center. A panel of Trump

hand-picked allies added his name to the building late last year,

but as the judge wrote in his ruling, quote, Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress

can change it. And then there's the president's war of choice with Iran, which has cost tens of billions of

dollars in military spending while driving up gas prices by 40 to 50 percent over the past three months. It's a deal that's still

in the works that appears to benefit Iran more than the United States. At best, it might return things

to the status quo before the war, and that's assuming that a deal ever materializes. Trump has

repeatedly said that a deal with Iran was on the horizon. Iran continues to throw cold water on that,

but nothing has been finalized yet. Trump's war is, not surprisingly, even less popular than his slush
