President Donald Trump says he wants tariffs on most Chinese goods to drop to 80%, that's down from the current 145%.

It's a major concession ahead of scheduled trade talks between U.S. officials and their Chinese

counterparts in Switzerland this weekend.

In a post on True Social, Trump said an 80% tariff quote seems right, but he'll leave

it up to Treasury Secretary Scott Besant.

Trump also wrote that China should import more U.S. goods.

Republican strategist Doug High told CNN that the lower tariff idea is partly

a reaction to fewer containers and less products coming into the country from China.

And so there's a very real concern of what people are going to pay or are there going to be

shelves that are empty. These are bad visuals for Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs analysts said yesterday that even if tariffs on China went to zero this

weekend, the U.S. would still have price hikes and shortages since so little has been coming

In his first homily this morning, Pope Leo called on Catholics to go beyond a superficial

faith and warned about, quote, practical atheism.

That comes against the backdrop of Christianity and regular church attendance declining

in the U.S. and Western Europe in recent decades.
