Summary

New York Judge Juan Merchan has set Donald Trump's first criminal trial for March 25th. That trial is likely to conclude in early May. At the moment, Trump's second criminal trial is set for May 20th. But that case - his federal trial in Florida for unlawfully retaining classified documents, obstructing justice and violating our nation's espionage laws - is being presided over by Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon. Judge Cannon has shown a willingness to cater to Trump, so she may end up cancelling the May 20 trial date in accordant with Trump's request.

Glenn says some people might think this would be a win for Trump. But in reality, this could actually represent a positive development on the quest to hold Trump accountable for his crimes.

That would be his unlawfully retaining classified documents case,

May 20th but that's the case being presided over by Trump appointed judge

1:15.7

Aileen Cannon, who has already been found

to have done things that were an abuse of her discretion in favor of Donald

1:27.8

Trump. She was reversed by an appellate court. Her impartiality is questioned all day, every day because she always seems to be making decisions

1:38.8

in favor of Donald Trump, but she's the judge we've got at the moment in the Florida case.

1:46.2

But because Judge Aline Cannon is presiding over the federal prosecution in Florida, scheduled to begin on May 20th, there is a chance,

1:56.8

perhaps a really good chance, that she will not keep that May 20th trial date.

2:03.8

She might cancel it, she might postpone it.

2:06.5

She might continue that case until, who knows,

2:09.9

the fall of 2024, maybe December of 2024, after the presidential election, heck maybe 2025.

2:19.6

But here's the thing, friends.

If Judge Alien Cannon cancels the May 20th trial date, that could end up
