a police state, all in the name of fighting crime.

I want to get your take.

Well, you know, it is a sad milestone.

It is not something new.

It's not something different.

I wish it were.

It is a much more dramatic step along the road to, dare I say it, a fascistic system of society.

I mean, Mr. Trump has justified many of the really terrible things he has done as a human being on the grounds of the risk of crime.

The whole campaign against immigrants has been premised on a notion of crime that the FBI's own statistics undercut.

It is well known, for example, in the United States and in most other countries, that

crimes are less committed by immigrant communities than by the native-born communities.

And the reason for that is very simple.

If you're an immigrant, especially one without adequate papers, an arrest is tantamount

to being deported.
