Even though the news keeps on common in this busy summer, I bet you've noticed we have

special counsel Jack Smith putting even more heat on Donald Trump.

So here's what we know right now as I'm with you as the week begins.

Smith's Washington DC grand jury is expected to meet tomorrow.

Just in the open criminal case, where Smith formally targeted Trump for indictment.

And that means we do know the DOJ's intent to charge, but not the DOJ's plans, its details

or anything like a timeline.

The fact is no one outside the probe can define when the next steps will be taken.

That includes the subject and target, Donald Trump, who is vaguely speculating today that

his indictment on these coup charges could come, quote, any day now.

He doesn't know that.

He doesn't know the timing.

He only knows what we've already reported that Smith told him that he is a target of the

probe.

Then there are new developments in the case where Smith has already indicted Trump, piling

on more charges last week over the alleged efforts to cover up the espionage violations that

DOJ initially charge.

Now that news hit as many people were actually kind of watching and waiting for those potential

charges in the other case, the coup case.
