The Supreme Court on Monday cleared a path from Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance to obtain eight years of federal income tax returns belonging to former President Donald J. Trump and other records from his accountants.

The ruling ended a long-running and desperate legal fight by Trump to block prosecutors' access to the information.

Today, the most transactional president in our history, the man who came to the job with the least knowledge of the three branches of government of any president in our history, the man who came to the job with the least knowledge of the three

branches of government of any president in our history, probably expected way back when his

three appointees to go his way. They, of course, as no one needs, remind you, did not.

It means that the grand jury investigation into the alleged hush money payments and other issues

will no longer be hampered by Trump's fights to keep the documents secret.

The district attorney's office, most likely already, has some of the documents in hand.

Vance, in a terse one sentence tweet, wrote,

The work continues, sounding more like a Zen samurai warrior than the New York City District Attorney.

This is just the beginning, and that's the thing.

We've waited five years to get to the beginning, and this is what this long, this long arduous process has been about.

For Vance, though, this case has become deeply personal as he has shrugged off the best

of Donald's slings and arrows, aiming to discredit Vance and has dutifully slogged forward

with methodical discipline.

What's hiding in these tax records and other relevant documents is the $1 billion question and will likely

decide the fate of Donald Trump.
