Leaders in the Middle East are reacting to President Donald Trump's shock announcement.

The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too.

We'll own it.

The stunning comments came after Trump met with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

at the White House yesterday. Trump said the roughly 2 million displaced Palestinians who live

in Gaza should leave, without saying where they should go, and he talked about possibly

sending American troops to the strip.

We have an opportunity to do something that could be phenomenal.

And I don't want to be cute, I don't want to be a wise guy, but the Riviera of the Middle

East.

Arab nations have rejected any suggestion that Palestinians should be forced to leave

Gaza, and opponents argue it would amount to ethnic cleansing. CNN political and national security analyst David Sanger questioned how it could even be done legally.

What do you do if they won't leave?

Because the Geneva Convention is pretty clear that you cannot forcibly move a population off of their homeland. And there are fears Trump's proposal could endanger the new phase of ceasefire and hostage

release negotiations, which are already fragile.

The Trump administration is planning widespread layoffs of federal workers soon.
