But here's the thing.

We don't want voter ID because that is like a poll tax, which is what Republicans used during Jim Crow to steal the franchise from black Americans.

We don't want to make citizenship an issue in elections because it is already illegal for non-citizens to vote.

his White House counsel to explore whether he can issue an executive order requiring proof of citizenship

for voter registration and photo ID at polling places nationwide. Again, modern day poll tax.
