Playbook podcast. There's a lot of news, so let's get right to what's driving the day. Last

night, federal prosecutors in Virginia charged former FBI director James Comey with obstruction and making a false statement to Congress.

That comes, Maya, just days before the five-year statute of limitation runs out on this case.

And, of course, just days after the president took to true social to demand that Attorney General Pam Bondi more aggressively

pursue criminal charges against Comey and other political enemies. The charges on this stem from

Comey's testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee in September 2020 about the FBI's investigation

into links between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russia.

Comey has denied the accusations, and a video posted last night proclaimed his innocence,

and he handed at a strategy for challenging the case against him as an act of political vengeance by Trump himself.

He said, quote, we will not live on our knees, and you shouldn't either, end quote.
