I'm Bridget Bergen, senior reporter in the WNYC and Gothamist Newsroom,

the growing conflict between attorneys for the Trump

administration and the courts. Yesterday, Chief U.S. District Judge James Bosberg of Washington,

D.C., announced plans to launch proceedings to determine if any Trump administration officials

defied his court order not to remove any Venezuelan

migrants from the country.

Bozberg has said that the decision to remove people on those flights back in mid-March, in defiance

of his earlier order, amounted to, quote, a willful disregard sufficient for the court to conclude

that probable cause exists to find a government

in criminal contempt. This also marks yet another escalation in the fight between the Trump

administration and the nation's judiciary, a conflict of constitutional proportions.

Joining me now to help unpack how we arrived at this point, what it

means going forward, and to answer your questions about the role of the courts, the rule of law,

is legal scholar, author, and journalist Emily Bazelon. She is a staff writer for the New York Times

Magazine and the Truman Capote Fellow for Creative Writing and Law at Yale Law School.
