President Donald Trump says Congress needs to pass a crime bill. The president also says that he is planning to work with Congress to extend the time that he can federalize the police here in Washington, D.C.

Current law only allows for the federalization of D.C. police for 30 days. Trump announced earlier

this week, of course, that he was federalizing the D.C. police and sending National Guard

into Washington, D.C. to deal with crime in the nation's capital. But what happens when that 30 days is up?

The Daily Signal's White House correspondent Elizabeth Mitchell asked the president that very question

at a press conference on Wednesday at the Kennedy Center in D.C. Let's take a listen.
