Good evening once again. I am Stephanie Rule live from Washington, D.C. where tomorrow night

Donald Trump will give his state of the union address to the nation. But voters have already

weighed in on the state of our nation, and it is bad news for Mr. Trump. 60% of Americans say the

country is worse off than where we were one year ago. That number goes up to

68% when you look at independence. That is a new poll from NPR, PBS, and Marist. With

independence, Trump is at a 26% approval rate, according to a new CNN poll. That is his lowest mark

with independence in that poll across both of his terms.

And in a new poll from the Washington Post and ABC News, Trump is at 60% disapproval.

That is the same number he had just after the January 6th attack on the Capitol.

That very same poll found 54% of Americans oppose his use of the military to force change in other countries, and that

brings us to Iran. As Trump considers potential military strikes there, the State Department

is evaluating non-emergency staff from its embassy in nearby Beirut. Today, a U.S. official

confirmed that Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner,

who still does not have any official role, no idea if he has security clearance,

will meet for talks with the Iranians in Geneva again on Thursday.
