Hey everybody, welcome to the Michael Steel Podcast. I'm Michael Steel, such a pleasure

to have you guys back in the house with us as we have survived yet another week in the

land of Trump and glad you survived as well. Hope you had a great holiday, a labor day, you know,

they'd say it's the day of labor and well, we've been laboring, that's for sure. A lot to get into

and our guest today, I'm excited to have on board the last time we actually had a face-to-face

with that was at a little restaurant in Washington where we sat down and talked about a book

that he was pinning at the time and wanted to get some thoughts and background on and the book

folks turned out to be not only a blockbuster but an ass kicker. This book woke up a whole lot of

folks around the country especially in Washington when Tim Alberta dropped American carnage on the

front lines of the Republican Civil War and the rise of President Trump. He is the chief political

correspondent for Political Magazine. He's covered Donald Trump's presidency, Capitol Hill,

ideological warfare between and within the two parties and certainly the demographic change

that has occurred in America and is occurring in America. He's had a fingertip on that.

He covered the 2016 campaign which probably gave him the idea that this could actually be an

interesting book for a national review at the time and he was their chief correspondent and was

previously at National Journal where he covered Congress as House Leadership Reporter and later

reported on campaigns as the publication Senior Political Correspondent. I tell you all of that

to sort of lay down his bonafides. So when the brother writes what he has written, you know it has come

from not just a smart space but a credible space and that is the one thing I can say is someone who

devoured this book. There was no questioning about its authenticity and the credibility of it as

we've seen with some other books that have come out about the carnage of this administration and
