Both Ukraine and Russia have expressed an openness to, at the very least, a pause in hostilities, but the belligerents differ wildly on the exact terms. A further complication is President Trump’s demand that Ukraine sell its rare earth minerals to the US in exchange for continued support, putting the Ukrainians between a rock and a hard place.
