This week, a court threw out Texas newly drawn gerrymandered maps saying they were a violation of the voting rights act.

Meanwhile, the DOJ sues Californians Prop 50 saying that was a violation of the voting rights act.

All of this, of course, is heading to the Supreme Court who just recently heard a case around, yes, the Voting Rights Act. That and will this even

0:23.8

matter in Texas what the courts end up deciding because of how they were drawn and how they

0:29.7

were specifically trying to count Latino voters as Trump voters. My name is Dina Dahl and this is the

Midas Touch Network. Let's get into this.

purpose. Now, the Supreme Court ruled in 2019 that parties, states can draw their maps for political

1:40.6

purposes and that courts shouldn't interfere, that this was legal. And in fact, Louisiana,

in the Supreme Court case that was heard in October, which was a rehearing of the case that was

1:54.3

heard in the spring, Louisiana at first tried to defend their maps before flipping size when

2:00.3

Trump wanted them to flip it.
