This is one of those moments where I'm not going to agree with Donald Trump.

In the fiscal year 2027 budget, it includes a request for $152 million to begin reopening Alcatraz Island as a working federal prison.

This is just first year funding to rebuild and modernize the facility.

This is a $152 million ask to plan it, not to build it, just to plan it.

The cost of planning to open Alcatraz is already so eye-watering and huge. I think

we're right to question whether this is a smart thing to do. Yeah, I'm with you on this one,

but we know Donald Trump very well at this point. And if there's one thing that Donald

Trump loves more than anything, he loves to put on a show. And wouldn't it be a show if all

of a sudden Alcatraz was reopened as a federal prison? I mean, that seems like something

that Donald Trump would absolutely love to do to stand on that island and hold the press conference with the old prison behind him and talk about how he's reopening it for the worst of the worst criminals that we'll put here.

And nobody can survive an escaped attempt by trying to swim to safety or anything like that.

Shark infested waters.

This seems right up Donald Trump's alley because he loves putting on a show.

So the budget request doesn't provide any detailed breakdown of how the $152 million

would be spent.

And if that's all it is, just a message that we're not soft on crime, that is very expensive for a photo op. However, you've got the

Borders are Tom Homan, and he's on board with this idea.

It should be on the table because we need detention beds. And I think that's an appropriate place

for the significant public states and threats, national security threats.
