And why wouldn't they be? I'm Ali Vitale. On this Monday, May 11th, we're going to start with the news here in Washington.

President Trump is rejecting Iran's response to the latest U.S. peace proposal, calling it, quote, totally unacceptable.

The president didn't offer any additional details on what he objected to, simply writing on social media yesterday,

quote, I've just read the response from Iran's so-called representatives. I don't like it.

Iranian state TV reports that Tehran's counterpropos included a demand for war reparations,

full sovereignty over the

Strait of Hormuz, an end to sanctions and the release of seized Iranian assets, dismissing the U.S.

plan as a demand for Iran's surrender to Trump's greed.

Meanwhile, Iran's new Supreme Leader, who still hasn't been seen publicly since the war began,

issued new directives for the, quote,

continuation of operations and the powerful confrontation with the enemies, according to state TV. It comes as Gulf states continue to fend off attacks, despite the tenuous

truce that's still in place. A drone sparked a small fire yesterday on a ship near Qatar,

as the UAE says it shot down two drones, blaming Iran.

And then there's also this. In a new interview with 60 minutes, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin

Netanyahu suggested the fighting across the Middle East will continue as the U.S. and Israel seek

to end Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Is the war with Iran over? And if it isn't, who will decide when it is?

I think it accomplished a great deal, but it's not over, because there's still nuclear material

enrich uranium that has to be taken out of Iran. There is still enrichment sites that have to be dismantled. There are still

proxies that Iran supports. There are ballistic missiles that they still want to produce.

Now we've degraded a lot of it, but all of that is still there, and there's work to be done.
