The U.S. strikes Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz, as President Trump talks up the latest negotiations, saying they're proceeding nicely.

But what does the public know about the terms that the White House might be considering and whether they'd be a good or a bad deal for the United States?

Welcome, I'm Kyle Peterson with the Wall Street Journal. We're joined today by my colleagues on the

journal's opinion pages, editorial board members, Elliot Kaufman and Kate O'Dell.

On Monday, U.S. Central Command said that American forces had conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran, quote, to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,

specifically taking out some Iranian boats that the U.S. said was trying to place mines,

as well as some missile launch sites in Iran, according to the U.S. statement.

Iran then threatened retaliation, but around the same time, President Trump was praising the latest talks in Qatar.

Here's what he said on true social.

Negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran are

proceeding nicely. It will only be a great deal for all or no deal at all. Back to the battlefront

and shooting, but bigger and stronger than ever before, and nobody wants that. Secretary of State,

Marco Rubio, also echoing that language saying that President Trump is either going to make a good deal or no deal.
